Island Peak Climbing

Island Peak (6,189m/20,305ft) is one of the main climbing peaks of the Everest Area. The mountain was named "Island Peak" in 1952 AD due to its striking location in the middle of the Chhukung valley, like an Island on a sea of ice. It was renamed "Imje Tse" in the early '80s, though its original name is still more popular. Island Peak has an impressive, highly glaciated West Face that rises from the Lhotse Glacier. A short half hour flight will be undertaken from Kathmandu to Lukla Airport after one day rock climbing in Kathmandu or sightseeing tour. Start your trek through the Solu Khumbu, capital of Sherpa. A full day rest will follow at the Sherpa village of Namche Bazaar. On that day, a hike for acclimatization is possible to Thame and back. You will continue trek to Gokyo and climb the Gokyo Peak for the wonderful views of Himalayas and then follow a high pass of Chola (5,420m/17,782ft). Ascending the glacial valley and continuing up to reach Gorak Shep. You will hike to Kala Pattar (5,545m /18,190ft), a shelf at the foot of Mt. Pumori, is well rewarded with the entire view of the south face of Mt. Everest. After visiting the Everest Base Camp (5,357m/17,575ft) trail descends to the Dingboche 4410m.After Dingboche 2 hours to ascends to Chhukung and Chhukung Ri( 5550m) After a day of walking from Chhukung you will reach the Base Camp to prepare for your attempt at the peak. It may take an additional day or two to scale the peak depending on weather conditions.
